Authors -- Mayur V, Nandhini, Alok A ABSTRACT : SPEECH RECOGNITION. The paper covers some of the basic yet fundamental concepts of electronic speech recognition. We introduce the topic by emphasising the need for speech recognition. The analysis of speech wave types is made in order to facilitate better understanding of the topic. THe speech recognition process in itself has been dealreasonably elaborately covering the ACOUSTIC-PHONETIC method in detail as it is one of the key methods of the speech analysis process. Suitable illustrations have been included where felt necessary to provide a better explanation to the topic. THe key areas of current research and profitable applications of the subject have also been mentioned to give completeness to the paper.
